An independent civic complaint tracker for Indian cities

interns.city is a free website where residents put a civic problem on the public record — a pothole, a dead streetlight, a water leak, uncollected garbage — find out which department is responsible, and send the complaint themselves with the message already written.

Who runs it

It is built and run by Tapas Kar, an independent developer in India, as a personal project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by any government body, municipal corporation, political party or company.

What it does, and does not do

• It stores your report with a photo and a map pin, and gives it a public page anyone can link to.
• It looks up the department responsible for that kind of issue at that location, with its email, phone and X handle, and pre-fills a message.
• You send that message from your own account or phone. interns.city does not send complaints on your behalf and has no official channel to any authority.
• Status and severity on a report are set by residents’ votes and by the reporter. They are community labels, not an official acknowledgement.

Your data

Reports, photos and locations are public by design: that is what makes the record useful. Your email is used only to sign you in and to reply if you write to us. The full policy, including your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, is in the privacy policy.

Corrections and contact

Authority contacts change. If a number, email or handle listed here is wrong, tell us and it will be fixed. The same address works for everything else.
