Pradyut Bordoloi
Former Lok Sabha member for Nagaon, Assam
Not a sitting member
Resigned the seat · resignation effective from 20 March 2026
Pradyut Bordoloi won Nagaon for the Indian National Congress in the 2024 general election, left the party on 17 March 2026, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party the next day and resigned his Lok Sabha seat. The Speaker announced acceptance of the resignation on 24 March 2026, effective from 20 March 2026. He went on to win the Dispur assembly seat at the 2026 Assam assembly election.
Nagaon is vacant. A by-election was notified on 9 September 2026 with polling on 6 October 2026 and counting on 9 October 2026, so this entry needs a successor added after that date.
Where this comes from
- Assam polls: Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla accepts Pradyut Bordoloi's resignation as MP — Northeast Now · News report · dated 24 March 2026 · read 30 September 2026Three dates for one event are in circulation — 18, 20 and 24 March 2026. This report gives acceptance on 24 March effective from 20 March, and 24 March is the announcement. We use 20 March and label it "effective from". The Lok Sabha Bulletin Part II for 24 March 2026 would settle it; we could not reach it.
- Assam: Congress' Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi resigns from party ahead of Assembly polls — India TV · News report · dated 17 March 2026 · read 30 September 2026This is the resignation from the party, which is a different event from the seat.
- Bypolls to 5 Assembly seats including Nandigram, Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency on October 6 — India TV · News report · dated 7 September 2026 · read 30 September 2026
None of these is a record published by Parliament or by the Election Commission. Their own sites did not answer us on 30 September 2026, so this rests on dated news reporting. What we tried, and what we could not reach, is written down in docs/member-status-research.md.
Identity
These four fields come from our own database, which was seeded from public sources in April 2026. We did not record which source supplied which field, so the source below names us, not an official feed — if you need an authoritative record, this page is not it.

What this seat can and cannot do
This describes the office of Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, answering for one parliamentary constituency — not Pradyut Bordoloi, who no longer holds it. Writing to them will not reach the office. It is here because the powers below belong to the seat and outlast whoever sits in it.
Researched and cited · applies to all of India
MPLADS is a central scheme, so this holds in every state. The GMDA seat holds only for constituencies inside GMDA's notified area.
Can
Recommend works in the constituency up to ₹5 crore a year under MPLADS; the District Authority may sanction up to the full entitlement.
Expect a decision on time: recommended eligible works should be sanctioned within 75 days, and any rejection told to the MP within 45 days with reasons.
Sit as an ex-officio member of the GMDA Authority, where the parliamentary constituency falls inside GMDA's notified area. The Authority is chaired by the Chief Minister of Haryana.
Choose which district in the constituency acts as the nodal district for MPLADS.
Cannot
Sanction, tender or execute anything. The MP recommends; the District Authority sanctions and gets the work executed through an implementing agency it selects.
Recommend renovation or repair work, as the guidelines stood in June 2016 — prohibited, with a narrow exception for retrofitting essential lifeline buildings such as government hospitals and schools. Whether the April 2023 revision still bars it we could not check: that edition is published only on mplads.gov.in, which does not answer from our network, and reporting says repair became permissible after a reasonable gap since the original construction.
Our reading of the cited provision, not something the source states
Recommend revenue or recurring expenditure. The scheme builds things; it does not run them. Nor may it acquire land, reimburse work already done, or name an asset after anyone.
Change the work or the site once the work has begun and expenditure liability has been incurred.
Recommend through a staffer or an intermediary. Recommendations from third parties and from an MP's representatives are inadmissible and cannot be acted on.
Money this office may direct
₹5 crore per year — MPLADS entitlement per MP, for each Member of Parliament.
This is what the scheme allows the office to direct. It is not a figure about Pradyut Bordoloi: we hold no record of what this member recommended, what was sanctioned or what was built. The money is spent by the District Authority — the District Collector, District Magistrate or Deputy Commissioner — which sanctions the works the MP recommends.
- ₹5 crore has been the figure since 2011-12; it was ₹5 lakh at launch in 1993-94, ₹1 crore from 1994-95 and ₹2 crore from 1998-99.
- Released in two equal instalments of ₹2.5 crore, the second only once the stipulated documents and utilisation conditions are met.
- A ceiling on what the MP may recommend. It is not a record of what was sanctioned, released or built — we have no such record.

Contactability
Anything listed below belongs to Pradyut Bordoloi, who no longer holds Nagaon. We have not checked whether it still works, and it is not a route to whoever holds the seat now. A civic complaint sent here will not reach the office.
No verified contact channel on record.
That means we hold nothing we are willing to publish — no office email, no official website, no public account we have checked. We will not publish a personal mobile number or a home address for anyone, and we will not print a channel we have not verified just to fill this space.
Published routes to the office
- Lok Sabha members directory, sansad.in
We link rather than republish. sansad.in carries no open licence and its copyright policy requires permission to reproduce its contents, so no member contact details are mirrored here.
What we do not know about this office
This list is the point of the page, not an apology for it. Each line is something a visitor might reasonably expect to find here, and the reason it is absent.
Whether the seat and the state we store are the right ones
We have checked the seat and state stored for only 7 of our 571 rows against a source, and found 2 of those 7 wrong. This row is not one of the two — which means either that it is right or that nobody has looked, and we cannot tell you which.
Any performance record
No record of Pradyut Bordoloi's attendance, questions asked, debates joined, bills introduced or committee work has been published by interns.city. Nothing is shown because we have measured nothing — not because the member did nothing.
Party affiliation
Removed in September 2026. The placeholder "IND" sat on 522 of 571 rows, including sitting ministers who are plainly not independents. Not every one of those 522 was wrong — a few members really are independents, and nothing in the data says which — but no source was ever recorded for any of them, which is why the whole column went rather than a guess at which part of it to keep. Every value is now empty and will stay empty until party can be re-imported from a source we can cite.
Term dates
The table has columns for a term start, a term end and whether the term is current. All three are empty for every one of the 571 members, which is also why nine seats in our data appear to hold more than one member at once. A migration recording an end date for the six members we have confirmed are no longer sitting has been written and deliberately not applied, so the columns are still empty even where this page can tell you the date.
Terms served
Not published. The column reads 1 for 536 of the 571 rows and carries no source or period, so we cannot tell a genuine first term from a column that was never set.
Age, education and photograph
Not published. Age and education were typed in by hand for 48 of 571 members with no source recorded, and no photograph is stored for anyone. A figure that exists for 8% of members and cannot be cited is not a fact about this one.
Open questions about the office, not the person
- How much of the entitlement was actually recommended, sanctioned, released or spent. mplads.gov.in does not answer from our network and no export has been verified to exist, so we show nothing — not a zero and not a dash.
- The paragraph numbers cited come from the June 2016 edition of the guidelines. MoSPI revised them with effect from 1 April 2023 and we could not read the revised text; the amounts are restated in 2025 Haryana publications, but locators may have moved.
Correct this information
If anything on this page is wrong — the spelling of the name, the house, the seat, the account — tell us, and send something we can check it against. We will not change a record on assertion alone, and we would rather show a gap than a correction we cannot verify.
